One day, as Danielle Finley and her boyfriend were driving on a dirt road in Pennsylvania a curious creature shot towards them. They thought it was a raccoon or something similar. but when they got a closer look, they were surprised to see that it was a dog.
They thought that the dog was gonna duck away so they just cruised. But when it was obvious that the dog was staying, they went out of their car and approached it. The dog was an old cairn terrier that was almost completely hairless.
Since they are with their other dogs, they have supplies in their car. Their dogs popped their heads out their car and checked the dog out. The hairless dog was nice and kind so they gave him some dog food and water.
The dog, who will be named Phil later on, was definitely lost. Finley knew that they could do so much more than feeding Phil and they can’t leave him alone again. So they decided to take him with them.
At first, they thought that Phil’s skin condition was mange. They couldn’t be sure since they found him on Memorial Day and there were no open clinics. They brought him to the vet the following day and they were surprised to know that he does not have mange.
His skin condition was caused by being exposed to the elements for a long time. His hair was thin, and he was itchy and smelly but it was not contagious. Finley and her boyfriend decided to keep Phil. They thought that adding another dog to their family is not a hard decision to make.
Phil’s hair will not completely grow back but he was eventually nursed back to his good health. Finley shared that he was always mistaken as a Hyena or a Chupacabra. But for her, Phil’s most defining quality is his sweetness.
